Where you put the sand in a sand pool filter?

Leslie has been no help whatsoever. We bought them from the sand, but they told us they had never worked with a sand filter, because they are very unpopular on the west coast. Great. So .. Now we have the sand, what the heck do we do with it? We have a fairly old pool system, swimming pool and a 20,000 gallons. Do we just open the thing, and pour a cup of sand in.. Can not afford a pool guy today, I must wait for the swimming season as they like charge $ 100. Moreover, what is against the current? I always heard, but I do not know what he is referring to.

The sand gets inside the filter tank. It usually goes from the top of the tank, and often there is a valve or a dome on top of the tank would be removed for sand to be added through. Others will have the top of the tank taken off. Sand filters are available in a variety sizes, for both above ground and inground pools.
