How can I keep swallows after the nesting season is over?

we just moved from New York to Delaware and After about a week of living here, there were about 3 barn swallows in our backyard. not so much about it until a swoped and almost hit my 4 years old sister when she was playing on the swing. We now know we can not get rid of them since they laid and eggs are protected by law, but after nesting season is over and they leave the way you can keep it so they do not return not? Is there any type of spray that we put on our deck? (The nest is under the stairs there) and we should put some of this spray on my porch sisters? (Is like a tree house with a swing deserved) thank you to all who help and reprobed Bothe the porch and hall are made of wood so it would have any effect on what my mother could buy?
