What are all the special events in a typical American high school?
I am writing a book and need to know what all the special events are in a typical American high school.
I know of prom of course but would love to know all the fun events which American students participate in during the school year. It would be great if you could be as detailed as possible.

If you're writing a book, you'll need to do your own research about the descriptions of each of these. I'm sure wikipedia.com has a bunch of info to offer, but I've listed a few common "special events" to look into.
There's Sadie Hawkins, Homecoming (dance, pep assembly (aka rally), spirit week, and football game), ASB Elections.
The first dance of the year is usually called a welcome dance, some schools have a Morp (prom backwards). There's also Winter Formal, International Week, Club Rush, Every Fifteen Minutes, Car Wash fund raisers, PTSA Meetings, Toy Drives during the holidays.
